“At the end of 2013, my husband and I were invited to serve as leaders in a Costa Rican church restart in a nearby slum, Rio Azul. We had prayed for years that God would open doors so that we could participate on just such a team and were blown away by God’s goodness to provide such a wonderful opportunity. Since accepting the position, we now regularly teach, serve on the worship team, co-lead the Sunday school, preach, lead a Bible study, teach music and English classes and serve in a variety of other ways.”

Children enjoy a short recess at a local community school in Gressier, Haiti, playing in and around the partially destroyed building that houses some of their classes. A new three-room school building (not pictured), built by short-term teams from ReachGlobal/TouchGlobal, only provides space for some of the more than 120 students that now attend the school.
The community school was founded by Maxo, a Haitian UN worker and ReachGlobal ministry partner, to provide education for children whose parents cannot afford to pay for their schooling.
A boy enjoys one of the slides at Los Olivos Church’s new playground in Sumpango, Guatemala, recently. The playground, built by a team from Lake Wisconsin Evangelical Free Church and Kids Around the World, is the only playground in a city of about 35,000 people. Los Olivos, the first Evangelical Free Church in the country, wants to use the playground to reach the entire community.
“As a church, we decided that the best thing for reaching out to this community is reaching the children and the youth,” says Oscar Chiquito, a missionary to the community sent out by Los Olivos. “The goal is to attract the youth and children and then connect them to the church.”
